Classic Ferraris Dominate US$71M Gooding Christie's Amelia Island Sale
Enzo-era Ferraris claimed five of the top 10 spots at Gooding Christie's 16th Amelia Island auction, while barn finds and rare Alfa Romeos rounded out a strong US$71.2 million result.
Traditional Classics Rule at Florida Auction
Gooding Christie's (the rebranded Gooding & Company) has wrapped up its 16th annual Amelia Island auction with an impressive US$71.2 million in sales — the second-highest total in the event's history since launching in 2010.
According to Hagerty, classic Italian machinery stole the show, with Enzo-era Ferraris occupying half the top 10 results. The strong performance contrasts with Broad Arrow's nearby sale, where modern exotics took centre stage.
Beyond the headline-grabbing Ferraris, the auction featured several noteworthy collections. Alfa Romeo enthusiasts had plenty to admire, alongside a strong showing of Porsche 356s and early 911s. Barn find hunters weren't left empty-handed either, with several intriguing discovery cars crossing the block.
Standout: 2007 Pratt & Miller Corvette C6RS
One particularly interesting lot was a 2007 Chevrolet Corvette Pratt & Miller C6RS, which hammered for US$184,800. This wasn't your standard 'Vette — it packed a 500-cubic-inch Katech Performance V-8 producing 600 horsepower.
Hagerty's valuation experts were on-site at the Omni resort to assess the cars firsthand. The Corvette presented in original, #2- condition with its distinctive red over black and red leather interior.
The Pratt & Miller name carries serious weight in Corvette racing circles. The engineering firm has been behind General Motors' factory racing programmes for decades, making this street-legal version a rare opportunity to own a piece of that heritage.
Market Context
The solid result suggests collectors remain willing to pay strong money for traditional classics and unique performance machines. While the modern exotic market grabbed attention elsewhere at Amelia Island, Gooding Christie's proved there's still robust demand for carefully curated classic machinery — particularly when it wears a prancing horse badge.
The auction's success reinforces Amelia Island's position as a key early-season event on the American collector car calendar.
