300ZX Z32 Twin Turbo, the engine bay from hell
tip
the VG30DETT is a brilliant engine but the z32 engine bay is so cramped that even basic maintenance is a nightmare. changing spark plugs takes 3 hours because of the intake plenum. the turbos are buried under the exhaust manifolds. the timing belt service requires removing the radiator and half the front of the car. my advice: find a mechanic who knows Z32s and accept that labour costs will be higher than on any other japanese car. the flip side is that the VG30DETT makes serious power with basic mods and the chassis is fantastic. just budget more for maintenance.
