911 SC is the sweet spot for air-cooled ownership
tip
The SC (1978-1983) sits in a perfect position for air-cooled 911 ownership. It has the fully developed 3.0-litre engine that's reliable and powerful enough at 180hp. It has Bosch K-Jetronic injection that works well without the complexity of later systems. It still uses the simple body style without the whale tail. And crucially, it's still affordable relative to earlier 911S models and later Carrera 3.2s. Good SCs start around $80,000 in Australia. A comparable early 911S is $150,000+. The SC gives you 90% of the experience at half the price.
