Common Suspension and Steering

Front suspension bush wear

Symptoms

Clonking over bumps, vague steering, uneven tyre wear, the car wanders at motorway speed.

Cause

The double-wishbone front suspension uses rubber bushes that harden and crack with age. Ball joints wear. Anti-roll bar links deteriorate.

Fix

Replace all bushes, ball joints, and anti-roll bar links.

Polyurethane bushes are available as an upgrade.

A complete front suspension refresh runs $800-2,000 AUD in parts, plus labour.

Cost mentioned in fix
