// THE STORY

The XK120 stunned the world at the 1948 London Motor Show. With its flowing lines and 120mph top speed, it was the fastest production car in the world and cost a fraction of its competitors. The twin-cam XK engine was decades ahead of its time and would power Jaguars for the next 40 years. The XK120 wasn't just beautiful, it was a genuine race winner, taking victories at Le Mans, Silverstone, and countless other circuits.

The XK140 added more power and refinement, including rack-and-pinion steering, while the XK150 brought disc brakes to the range. In Australia, these are blue-chip classics with strong club support and an active concours scene. The roadster is the most valuable, but the fixed-head coupe is arguably the most elegant shape. Ownership requires commitment, but the XK engine is well understood and specialists abound. Driving an XK on a clear Australian road is one of classic motoring's great experiences.
