240Z rust repair panels,where to source in Australia?
my 240z needs new floor pans on both sides and the spare wheel well has a hole in it you could put your fist through. tabco in the US makes repro panels but the shipping to australia is savage. does anyone know of an australian supplier for z-car rust repair panels? or a good panel beater in QLD who has experience with these cars?
Z Parts Australia in Melbourne stocks Tabco panels locally. They import in bulk so you avoid the ridiculous individual shipping costs. Floor pans, wheel wells, sill panels, the lot. I've also seen Z-car repair panels at the Japanese Classic Car Society swap meets. For a panel beater in QLD, look up Simon at Classic Japanese Auto Restorations in Rocklea. He's done several Z cars and knows where the hidden rust is.
tabco panels are decent but the floor pans need work to fit properly. none of the repro panels for any japanese car from this era are perfect. budget for a few hours of trimming and fitting. a good panel beater who knows old japanese metal is worth their weight in gold.
