510 L16 engine,the twin SU setup is worth preserving

the 1600 SSS came with twin SU carbs from factory and theyre excellent once properly set up. ive seen blokes rip them off and fit a single weber sidedraft thinking itll make more power. it wont on a stock engine. the twin SUs give better fuel distribution across all four cylinders and smoother response. get them rebuilt properly with new needles and jets matched to your cam and exhaust setup. a good SU specialist will get more out of them than a random weber swap.
