308 in a Torana,oil pump drive gear wears out

the 308 holden v8 has a known issue with the oil pump drive gear wearing. its a small bronze gear driven off the camshaft and they wear over time especially if you run thicker oil. symptoms are low oil pressure at idle when hot. its actually a pretty cheap fix, new gear is about $40 but you need to pull the timing cover to get at it. do it before the pressure drops so low you spin a bearing. ask me how i know.
