A9X replica build,am I kidding myself on budget?

question

thinking about building an A9X replica from my LX sedan. ive got the car, need the flares, spoiler, correct wheels, and the interior trim. realistically what am i looking at? trying to keep it under $20k for the conversion not including paint. is that doable or am i dreaming?

Twenty thousand is tight but potentially doable if you're doing all the work yourself. The reproduction flares are about $3,000-4,000 for a set. The rear spoiler is another $800-1,000. Correct Globe wheels in the right size are $2,500+. Interior trim depends on condition but budget $3,000 minimum. Fitting the flares properly with correct panel gaps and seam sealer is where the skill comes in. Paint is separate and will be another $8,000-12,000 for a quality finish. I'd budget $25,000 total to do it properly.

always budget 50% more than you think on a project like that. things come up once you start pulling panels off. the real question is whether the base car is solid enough. if the shell needs rust repair before you even start the A9X conversion, you can blow through $20k just on metalwork.
