EB GT paint protection, best way to preserve the factory finish?
My EB GT still has its original Heritage Green paint which is in excellent condition. I want to protect it properly. Should I go for ceramic coating, paint protection film, or just a quality wax routine? The car is garaged and only comes out for weekend drives and shows. I don't want to over-capitalise but I also don't want the paint to deteriorate on a car that's only going up in value.
For a garaged weekend car, a quality ceramic coating is the best balance of protection and value. It provides UV protection and makes washing easier without the effort of regular waxing. IGL Kenzo or Gtechniq Crystal Serum are both excellent products. Budget about $800-1,200 for a professional application including paint correction. PPF (paint protection film) is overkill for a car that's not driven daily and it can discolour over time if the car sits.
I use Collinite 845 wax on my E-Type. It's been the go-to for concours preparation in the Jaguar community for decades. A proper hand-wax every three months is all a garaged car needs. The advantage over ceramic coating is that wax can be corrected and reapplied, whereas a ceramic coat is semi-permanent and if it develops issues you need professional intervention to remove it.
