the standard 2.78 ratio in a monaro gts is fine for highway cruising but its lazy off the line. a 3.25 is the sweet spot for a street car, better acceleration without screaming on the freeway. for drag racing the 3.55 or 3.73 is the go but highway driving becomes noisy. the 10-bolt salisbury diff in these cars handles decent power with a good limited slip. BorgWarner and truetrac both make units that fit. about $800 for the LSD and $150 for new gear sets.
