XA GT Coupe hardtop seal replacement,who makes quality repros?
The weatherstrips around the pillarless door openings on my XA GT Coupe are shot. Water leaks in during rain and the wind noise at highway speed is terrible. The hardtop-specific seals are different from the sedan and much harder to source. Has anyone found a quality reproduction set? I need the full kit: door seals, quarter window seals, and the roof drip rail moulding. Original quality preferred, not the cheap rubber that goes hard in two years.
Rare Spares stock the hardtop-specific weatherstrip kits and their quality has improved markedly in the last few years. The full door seal kit for an XA/XB hardtop is about $800. The roof drip rail moulding is a separate item and harder to find. For that I'd try the Ford Falcon GT Owners Club parts register, as they sometimes have NOS items. Failing that, Dennis Weatherstrips in Melbourne can custom-make profiles from a sample of the original.
rare spares have improved heaps. their torana seals used to be rubbish but the recent batches are much better. id assume the falcon stuff has gone the same way. make sure you get the kit with the metal inserts in the right places, not the all-rubber economy version.
