XY Falcon fuel tank rust,the hidden killer

Every XY Falcon I've inspected in the last ten years has had some degree of fuel tank rust. The tanks are unpainted steel inside and fifty-plus years of condensation does its work. Symptoms are fuel filter blockages, carburettor needle and seat issues, and rough running at low fuel levels when the sediment gets picked up. A professional tank clean and seal using a product like Por-15 tank sealer costs about $400 and is money well spent. Alternatively, reproduction stainless steel tanks are available from Rare Spares for about $900. Either way, don't ignore it.
