1961-1973 / Coupe / Shooting Brake / Sweden

Common Suspension and Steering

Worn tie rod ends and track rod ends

Symptoms

Clonking, vague steering, uneven tyre wear, play in the steering.

Cause

Ball joints in the tie rod ends wear out. They're exposed to the elements and take a hammering.

Fix

Jack up the front, check for play by rocking the wheels.

Replace worn ends, they're cheap and easy to swap.

Get the tracking checked afterwards.
