11. Wiring Harness Degradation

Symptoms

Intermittent electrical faults (lights flickering, gauges misbehaving, windows not operating). Blown fuses. Evidence of rodent nesting in the engine bay or front boot.

Cause

The 964's wiring harness uses insulation with a soy-based component that is attractive to rodents. Even without rodent damage, the insulation degrades with heat and age, becoming brittle and cracking. The engine bay wiring is most affected due to heat exposure.
