13. Window and Sunroof Seal Leaks

Symptoms

Damp carpets, musty smell, water stains on the headliner. Water visible in the footwells after rain.

Cause

Rubber seals degrade with UV exposure and age. The 964's window seals, sunroof gaskets, and (on Targas) removable panel seals all deteriorate over 30+ years. Blocked drain channels in the sunroof cassette and door drain holes exacerbate the problem.
