MG

British sports cars. Down under.

Over 500,000 MGBs built. The best-selling British sports car of all time.

// THE STORY

MG defined the affordable sports car. Since the 1920s, the octagonal badge has meant one thing: driving for the sheer joy of it. Australia embraced MGs early, the MGB became the country's weekend car of choice, with over half a million built worldwide. "Safety Fast!" wasn't just a slogan, it was a philosophy: that performance and everyday usability could coexist. The Australian MG scene is one of the most active classic car communities in the country, with clubs in every state keeping these British icons on the road.

MG Car Club Victoria

VIC

The MG Car Club Victoria has been keeping the MG spirit alive since 1958, when a group of enthusiasts decided that driving MGs was only half the fun - the other half was talking about them over a drink. The club covers every generation of MG, from pre-war T-types to the last of the TFs and everything in between, including the often-overlooked MGB GT and the surprisingly capable MG ZT. Monthly meetings at the Abbotsford Convent draw a good crowd. There's something about the heritage setting that suits a British marque club perfectly. Members bring their cars when the weather cooperates, and the courtyard fills with a mix of chrome bumpers and wire wheels. The club runs regular Sunday drives through the Yarra Valley, a concours in autumn, and an annual pilgrimage to Phillip Island for the historic races. Whether you've got a perfectly restored MGA or a daily-driven MG ZS EV, this club welcomes anyone with a soft spot for the octagon badge.
